Classroom Materials

Visuals are a great tool to have when teaching a lesson or expectation. Some children need more than words to understand what the steps are for an activity or what behavior is expected in the class.

Large visuals can be displayed in the class for the whole class to see. Teachers can also wear visual cards on a necklace to reinforce expectations when speaking with a child directly face to face.

Sensory Corners in the classroom are fun and calming!

Fidgets can also be used in sensory corners or given during circle time to increase a child's focus on an activity or attention to the teacher's instructions. Not all children find the same textures and materials soothing. Children have different tactile needs and fidgets are not a one- size fits all solution. Finding the "right" fidget is important.
